Friday, September 30, 2011

The economic development minister in Argentina's Salta province, Julio César Loutaif, has met with local authorities to discuss a bill to create a provincial IT hub, Salta's government said on its website.

According to Loutaif, the IT hub looks to promote economic growth in the province through technological development. "The hub is not just a physical space; it's about the companies that develop, produce and present their own services to others," he said.

Companies interested in being part of the IT hub will also have to meet several requirements, he added.

According to the bill, the IT hub will offer advisory services through a group of specialists that looks to foster cooperative work, knowledge and IT transfer among companies, research centers and other entities focused on promoting scientific, technological and productive innovation activities.

The initiative also seeks to offer technologies designed to add value for the productive and services sectors, as well as strengthen education in the area of ICT.
