Thomson Reuters - an international provider of financial, healthcare, legal, media, science, and tax and accounting products and services - has bought Argentine software provider Sistemas Bejerman, the former said in a statement without disclosing the purchase price.
This acquisition confirms Thomson Reuters' intention to continue growing in the country. According to the statement, the company is going through a "growth phase" that has seen the opening of a technological operational center in Buenos Aires in November 2010 and the acquisition that year of Brazilian software provider Mastersaf.
"Sistemas Bejerman will add value to our company... facilitating tax and accounting business expansion in Argentina and Latin America," Thompson Reuters' Latin American professional division president, Gonzalo Lissarrague, said.
In the last year, Thomson Reuters has also acquired legal publishers such as Abeledo Perrot in Argentina, Legal Publishing in Chile and Revista dos Tribunais in Brazil.
Joining Thomson Reuters "means new opportunities for growth and innovation and the commitment to continue generating solutions for our customers," said Sistemas Bejerman general manager Cristina Martínez.
Sistemas Bejerman has more than 21,000 active clients with 100,000 licenses and a 250-strong workforce operating in five countries - Argentina, Spain, Uruguay, Paraguay and Ecuador.
