Bnamericas
Latin America search traffic increased in March by 21% year-on-year to 18.5bn searches, with an average of 167 per person, consultancy comScore (Nasdaq: SCOR) said in a release. A 14% increase in the number of unique searchers, along with a 6% gain in the number of searches per person, was the main driver behind this rise. The report included data for Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. Overall for the month, each country experienced growth in search query volume, lead by Brazil with nearly 6bn search queries - expanding 34% compared to March 2010. Mexico ranked as the second largest search market with nearly 3.2bn queries in March, followed by Colombia with almost 2.9bn. A total 90% of searches in the region during the month were through Google, followed by Facebook and Microsoft sites.
