Government and nonprofit organization websites in Brazil posted the highest unique user increase during October, up 6.4% compared to September, according to an Ibope Nielsen Online study.
Corporate information and finance, insurance and investment sites followed in the second place with a 5.4% increase, while e-commerce placed third with 4.6%.
E-commerce sites reached 32.3mn unique users in October. The largest increase was registered by retail stores, which reached 27.5mn users or 58.8% of the total number of active users in the month.
Website for shoe stores, clothing and other fashion accessories were among the most visited during October.
The total number of active internet users in Brazil has also grown, according to Ibope Nielsen Online. Of the 61.2mn people with access at home or the workplace, 46.7mn were active users in October, up 0.8% compared to September and 11.9% compared to 41.7mn from October 2010.
The total number of users with internet access in any environment (home, workplace, schools and others) reached 78.5mn people in the third quarter of 2011, according to the study. This figure represents 6% year-over-year growth.
