US web filtering and desktop security software manufacturer Websense will enter the mobile segment and launch a tailored mobile device management (MDM) portfolio in the first quarter of 2012, the company's channel sales manager for Brazil, Marcos Prado, told BNamericas.
The solutions will focus on information control and management of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.
"Initially, we will have this portfolio available for the so-called 'iDevices' [iPhones and iPads], and Samsung's Android platform. Then we will reach RIM's Blackberry and Windows Mobile, completing the current four main mobile platforms on the market," the executive said, on the sidelines of the Gartner ITxpo conference in São Paulo.
Prado said the company has been working since the beginning of the year on developing the portfolio, which he believes is the first MDM portfolio that allows for the safeguarding, management and control of all types of information, no matter where or whom it is coming from.
Websense expects overall growth of more than 20% in Latin America for 2011, with Brazil leading this path, the executive said without disclosing specific numbers.
Brazil and Mexico are the company's main markets in the region, Prado added, also noting good results in Peru, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Central America.
At the same time, "we still have a lot to cover and grow in Latin America," he said.
In terms of vertical business, Websense focuses on medium and large enterprises from the financial segment, as well as the government sphere.
