South Korea based Samsung is studying whether to build a cell phone assembly plant in Argentina, Samsung Argentina president Sung Hoan Kim said in an interview with local website Infobae.com.

However, Samsung has ruled out the idea of opening up a plant in Tierra del Fuego, he said. At the same time the company is analyzing its operations in Brazil, where it already has an assembly plant.

Samsung Argentina expects to reach US$200mn in sales in 2005, or a 100% increase on 2004. The company expects its cell phone sales to lead the way, followed by data processing and home appliances.
