Colombian telecoms operator Telmex is leading the pay TV market with 1.7mn subscribers, local paper El País reported, citing data from the country's TV regulator CNTV.
According to the report, the figure represents a market share of 56%.
EPM currently has 489,000 customers followed by DirecTV, with 172,507.
Meanwhile, the local unit of Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica (NYSE: TEF) has 130,248 clients in the pay TV segment. Both DirecTV and Telefónica offer the service in the local market through satellite technology.
In the last two years, the local unit of Mexico's Telmex (NYSE: TMX) has acquired local cable TV companies Superview, Cablepacífico, TV Cable, Satelcaribe and Cablecentro.
Also, last month, CNTV approved the integration of Telmex and cable TV operator Teledinámica.
