Esval releases works tender timetable

Chile's central Region V waterworks company Esval has released a timetable for 10 works in seven localities. Bidding rules are available May 14-20, while offers are due from June 4-20, depending on the project.

Works include building and improving potable water and sewerage networks, as well underwater outlet pipes, which will benefit residents in La Cruz, El Tabo, Quintero, Valparaiso, Quillota, Los Andes, Algarrobo, Villa Alemana, and El Quisco.

Esval plans to invest some US$146mn in 2002-2003, which would help bring wastewater treatment to 93% and increase potable water and sewerage coverage close to 100% by end-2003. This year's investment will be some US$91mn.

The works falls under Esval's investment pledge with waterworks regulator SISS that calls for spending US$178mn between 2001-2005. Esval, controlled by the UK's Anglian Water, serves a little over 420,000 clients with potable water and close to 365,000 with sewerage service.
