El Salvador's national water and sewerage authority Anda has been allocated a budget of 76.9mn colones (US$8.69mn) for 2011, according to its president, Marco Antonio Fortín.
The funds will go towards 110 projects to be carried out this year, which will create 17,500 jobs, Anda reported on its website.
Anda plans to carry out works to improve water infrastructure, improve water quality, increase water supply and build new potable water systems.
Work also includes improvements in sanitation infrastructure including reconstruction of wastewater treatment plants.
