Latin American development bank CAF has signed a cooperation agreement with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) to promote access to water and sanitation in the region.
"Improving Latin Americans' quality of life is a priority for CAF, and it is not possible without driving programs and projects which ensure access to water and sanitation services," said CAF president Enrique García.
The two organizations will also work to prevent disease in the region, García added.
In the last five years, CAF has invested roughly US$1.8bn in Latin America's water sector, according to a CAF release.
