Brazil's Paraíba state water utility Cagepa has presented a funding request of 649mn reais (US$404mn) for waterworks projects under the second phase of the national growth acceleration plan (PAC), a company spokesperson told BNamericas.
"Of the total, 570mn reais is dedicated to wastewater collection and treatment initiatives and 78.9mn reais to water supply projects," the spokesperson said.
Cagepa has submitted 489mn reais in works to national health foundation Funasa. For sewerage, 53 civil works projects and 74 consultancy projects were presented. In terms of water, 17 were submitted for construction work and 19 for basic and executive projects.
Another 159mn reais in works were presented to the cities ministry, including four sewerage projects that total 108mn reais and five water supply projects which total 51.2mn reais.
For the cities ministry initiatives, Cagepa will have to provide 10% in counterpart funding on sewerage projects and 5% for water supply ones.
PAC's group III category covers municipalities with up to 50,000 residents. A total of 5bn reais has been earmarked for projects under this group, and the results of funding requests are due to be announced on November 4.
