Brazil's Santa Catarina state utility Casan is preparing 156mn reais (US$93.1mn) in sewerage system projects in state capital Florianópolis with financing from the country's growth acceleration plan (PAC), a company spokesperson told BNamericas.
"All projects are currently under analysis and tenders are expected in 2012," the spokesperson said.
"The largest initiative is for an underwater pipeline in the Campeche neighborhood. It is budgeted at 97mn reais," the official added.
Casan has earmarked another 28.7mn reais for an underground pipeline in the neighborhoods of Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Campeche and a 7.8mn-real pipeline in Ribeirão da Ilha and Campeche neighborhoods.
The utility is also planning a 12.9mn-real expansion of the collector network in the neighborhoods of Abrão and Capoeiras and the system in Lagoinha and Praia Brava for 9.5mn reais.
Over the next three years, Casan aims to raise sewerage service coverage in the 197 municipalities it serves to 45% from 17%. Coverage in Florianópolis is currently at 55.2%.
