EAAB eyes US$30mn Latin American contracts

Colombia's Bogotá water utility EAAB is looking to expand its regional operations through contracts worth some US$20mn-US$30mn throughout Latin America, paper El Espectador reported.

The company is currently carrying out a US$650,000 contract with Buenos Aires utility AySA and also has a small services contract with Ecuador's Guayaquil water utility Interaguas, according to EAAB director Luis Ulloa.

The Bogotá utility now plans to bid for projects in Puerto Rico, where it has already prequalified for an upcoming tender, and Mexico's federal district.

In Colombia, EAAB is preparing for the US$350mn Salitre wastewater treatment plant expansion, construction of the US$600mn Canoas treatment plant, and the cleanup of the Bogotá river, budgeted at US$140mn.
