Northeastern Brazil's Bahia state water and sewerage utility Embasa is planning 190mn reais (US$115mn) in water supply and sewerage works in the city of Vitória da Conquista, according to a state government release.
The work is divided into two parts, the first of which contemplates expanding the utility's integrated water supply system serving Vitória da Conquista and the neighboring areas of Belo Campo and Tremedal. Basic planning has just been completed.
The second part entails transforming land where a wastewater treatment plant is located into a recreational area, the release said.
Embasa has begun meetings about the planned works with city council president Fernando Vasconcelos.
The Bahia utility provides 94.3% of the population with potable water and 34.6% with wastewater collection service in its coverage area.
