Mexico's national disaster fund Fonden has provided some 825mn pesos (US$79.6mn) for reconstruction of water infrastructure in Nuevo León state that was damaged by Hurricane Alex in 2010.
Those funds were for the first phase of reconstruction efforts carried out by national water authority Conagua, which has included demolition of damaged infrastructure, the authority said in a release.
Conagua will begin relocating potable water and drainage pipeline in the Santa Catarina and La Silla river basins in order to continue reconstruction efforts, director José Luis Luege said in a meeting with governor Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz.
Luege also presented a plan for the Monterrey VI potable water pipeline, which aims to provide water for the state capital of the same name, as well as plans to modernize irrigation systems in the state.
