Bolivia's government has authorized 117 water and sanitation projects in Santa Cruz department under its water investment program for rural areas.
Municipalities that presented projects will be able to access US$300,000 provided by the government to carry out potable water and irrigation initiatives throughout the year.
The projects are budgeted at some 116mn bolivianos (US$16.5mn), state news service ABI reported.
The government will earmark some US$100mn for the entire program, which includes 327 municipalities in the country's nine departments.
The funding is expected to be disbursed in April.
