The government of Bolivia's La Paz department will inject US$10mn to build reservoirs and other projects in various provinces throughout the department, state news agency ABI reported.
"We're working on 10 water projects... which will provide a structural solution to the water shortage in various communities that is affecting agriculture production," said La Paz governor Cesar Cocarico.
The project will also aim to irrigate areas lacking water and more efficiently utilize wells, according to the release.
This week, Julieta Monje was named the new environment and water minister, committing to focus her efforts on protecting water sources and building the Peñas reservoir, which will capture glacier water for distribution in La Paz and El Alto.
