Colombia's environment, housing and territorial development ministry (MAVDT) has earmarked 93bn pesos (US$50.6mn) to repair potable water and sewerage networks in Santander department's Gramalote town, according to environment minister Beatriz Uribe.

The projects fall under the MAVDT's departmental water plans (PDAs) developed to overhaul water and sewerage systems damaged from severe winter rains which hit at the end of last year, MAVDT reported on its website.

The ministry approved an additional 300bn pesos from the national calamities fund for environmental preservation initiatives in the area.
