Peru's economy and finance ministry (MEF) has authorized the transfer of 109mn soles (US$39.4mn) in the 2011 public sector budget to finance projects under the Agua para Todos (water for everyone) program.
Agua para Todos' executive directorate requested the funds for 24 projects that were declared viable by the national public investment system, state news agency Andina reported.
The monies will be provided to various public sanitation service providers (EPS), which are carrying out the projects in conjunction with local governments.
The funds will be made available from the budget of the housing, construction and sanitation ministry.
