The new head of Uruguay's state-owned water utility OSE, Milton Machado, has committed to continue improving the company's management and customer service, as well as expanding domestic sewerage connections, the presidential website reported.

Machado recently assumed the position of president, with former secretary-general Daoiz Uriarte taking on the role of VP.

Machado, the former head of Ciudad de la Costa utility Consorcio Canario, replaced Carlos Colacce, who was asked to step down in February along with former VP Alicia Araújo due to problems with coordination.
