OSE tenders work under US$120mn Ciudad de la Costa sanitation plan

Uruguay's state-owned water utility OSE is seeking construction firms to carry out sewerage work as part of Canelones department's US$120mn sanitation project for Ciudad de la Costa.

The tender is to perform stage 2B of the project, which includes building a new outfall pipeline in the city's eastern sector.

Bids must be submitted to OSE by July 5, according to an IDB project document. Work is expected to wrap up in 18 months.

The multilateral is providing US$80.9mn and the local government US$38.9mn for the Ciudad de la Costa sanitation project, which involves improving the city's sewerage networks, increasing sanitation coverage, repairing storm drains and repaving roads.

Only around 20% Ciudad de la Costa is currently connected to a sewerage network, which has led to contamination of the area's aquifers.
