Sanepar expands water supply in Pato Branco

State water utility Sanepar is investing 40mn reais (US$10.7mn) to expand water supply across Pato Branco city in Brazil's Paraná state.

Last week, two new water reservoirs were linked to the supply system and by July another four should be operational.

By 2020, another reservoir is planned at João Pessoa reservation center. With these works, Pato Branco will have capacity to store 13.9mn liters of water, 112% more than the current volume.

By the end of February Sanepar also plans to have concluded an expansion of the city's water treatment plant.

Pato Branco, in the southwest of the state, has around 82,000 residents and deals with water restrictions mainly during summer, amid high temperatures and limited capacity of the existing system.
