Mexico's Jalisco state water utility Siapa will spend 55mn pesos (US$4.6mn) on flood prevention projects, paper El Informador reported.
The authority has assigned funds for 11 separate projects in the Guadalajara area.
Siapa will use 28.5mn pesos for the Las Pintas dam and its connecting channels. Projects include dredging canals leading to the dam, sanitation and recovery of the area. Work on this project is already underway, the report said.
Other projects include the dredging of the Tchaikovsky and Las Palmas canals and construction of a stormwater collection unit.
