Energisa is Brazil's sixth largest private power group in terms of client numbers, controlling distributors in 788 municipalities across nine states, mostly in Brazil's central and northern regions, serving 16mn people.
In a major power transmission auction held by the government in April, the company purchased 272km of transmission lines and 1,344MVA of substation capacity in Goiás state for 36.7mn reais (US$11.9mn).
Overall, the company plans to allocate some 1.43bn reais this year to expand and upgrade its power distribution network - and that involves investments in technology, automation and innovation.
