Industrias Peñoles ranks among the world's biggest silver and zinc producers, and is one of Latin America's top gold and lead miners.

Founded in 1887, the Mexican company has 12 mines in the country, half of which are operated by 75%-owned precious metals subsidiary Fresnillo.

It also has metallurgical and chemical divisions and energy operations in the country. Peñoles is part of conglomerate Grupo BAL, controlled by Mexican billionaire Alberto Bailléres.
