Project Details

The new Chapala-Guadalajara transfer pipeline would work alongside the existing Guadalajara-Chapala pipeline. The existing pipeline, built in 1990, currently extracts 180Mm3/y, and the local government has permission to extract 240Mm3/y. After 20 years of use, the existing Chapala-Guadalajara pipeline requires significant maintenance. The line supplies water to 58% of Guadalajara's residents and, without a second pipe, service cannot be suspended to carry out repairs.
