Description

The Jerónimo project is located at the old gold mine Agua de la Falda. The aim of the project is to reopen and start using – and develop further – the old mine infrastructure. Previously there were two operations in this sector: El Hueso (an open pit operation) and Agua de la Falda (an underground mine that used a room and pillar method). The project involves using existing facilities, such as crushing plants, purifying filters, workshops and site offices, as well as incorporating new unit operations into the metallurgical process. These include a deposit for thickened tailings, a new electric line (parallel to the existing one) and a new substation in the industrial area of the project. Jerónimo comprises three operating areas: Jerónimo Superior, Jerónimo Central and Jerónimo Inferior. Tests carried out in the area showed different mineralization results from the three veins, so it is necessary to use different metallurgical processes for gold recovery.
