Description

The project entails the construction and operation of an underground highway of 3 lanes in each direction along the eastern section of Chilean capital Santiago's beltway. In the El Salto-Puente Centenario section, a three-lane tunnel under San Cristóbal hill and the Mapocho river is planned, as well as improvement works to existing roads in the La Pirámide area. The project had initially envisioned an underground route that would extend from El Salto avenue with the Grecia roundabout. However, the project was redesigned due to opposition stemming from expropriation concerns of residents.
