The La Granja project is a porphyry copper project 100% owned by Rio Tinto. It is located in Cajamarca department 10km from the city of Querocoto. The property covers 3,900ha. The orebody has an indicated mineral resource of 130Mt grading 0.89% and a inferred mineral resource of 4.29Mt grading 0,51%. La Granja is a greenfield project, and Rio Tinto has recently assessed a range of options to develop the large near-surface resource at La Granja, including staged development with early production from leaching of both secondary sulphide and primary sulphide mineralization.
