Description

The Agua Negra tunnel project calls for the construction of two parallel tunnels, one in each direction. The tunnels will expedite transit between the province of San Juan in Argentina and the region of Coquimbo, Chile, which are connected by the Agua Negra mountain pass that reaches an altitude of 4800m. Its construction will also improve commerce in the region, making it easier to transport products from San Juan to the port in Coquimbo. The work is part of the wider Bioceanic corridor plan that will improve transport links between Porto Alegre, Brazil and Coquimbo.
