Honduras watch: Solar PPAs, thermo contracts, loss recovery, consultancy

Upower subsidiaries Producción de Energía Solar y Demas Renovables and Pacific Solar Energy executed 20-year PPAs with Honduras state power company Enee to build and operate two solar PV projects for a combined 100MW.

In a statement, Upower said it is reviewing and negotiating the EPC contract with Wind Turbine and Energy Cables for the projects which will be built on a 420ha piece of leased land in Nacaome.

Enee's board extended for a second time contracts with thermo generators Elcosa (80MW) and Lufussa I (70MW), now until this February 28, to guarantee supply while review of energy supply contracts continues to secure the best terms, said the company.


Enee delinquent payment recovery unit chief Alexis Matute said some 50mn lempiras (US$2.51mn) in unpaid bills have been recovered due to payment plan agreements signed with clients following increased customer oversight that includes service cuts and legal action, local paper La Tribuna quoted the official as saying.
