Sonora Energy to build 39MW solar project in Puerto Libertad

Sonora Energy Group de Hermosillo (SEGH) is set to begin construction of its solar energy generation project in Puerto Libertad, in Mexico's Sonora state, the company announced in a statement.

The project, to be titled SEGH-CFE 1, is scheduled to be online by 2Q13.

The photovoltaic project recently secured its permit from Mexico's state power company CFE to produce up to 30MW/h. SEGH-CFE 1 will have an installed capacity of 39MW of multi crystalline silicon panels, according to the company's president, Don Walter.

The project will sell directly to the CFE, Walter added.

SEGH-CFE 1 is the first utility-scale, privately owned photovoltaic project in Mexico to receive a small producer permit from the CFE, according to the company.
