Thursday, May 13, 2010

The Dominican Republic's airport concessionaire Corporación Aeroportuaria del Este (CAE) will finish building a new runway for Punta Cana's international airport in April 2011, local paper Hoy reported.

In December 2009, the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) approved a US$20mn loan for the airport's expansion project. Another US$10mn loan was issued by local bank Banco BHD to finance the project.

The new runway will be 3,108m long, and the passenger terminal will also be expanded as part of the initiative.
