The concessionaire behind the Talca-Chillán highway in Chile posted a 309mn-peso (US$481,000) net loss in the first half, compared to a 1.216mn-peso net loss in 1H03, Talca Chillán Sociedad Concesionaria said in a filing to the country's securities regulator (SVS).

For the period, revenue grew 8.53% to 10.6bn pesos, and the concessionaire posted a 1bn-peso operating profit, versus a 25.9mn-peso operating loss in 1H03, due to lower administrative and operating costs.

In 2003, the concessionaire posted a 2.53bn-peso net loss, compared to a 426mn-peso net loss the year before.

The concessionaire won the 11.5-year operation and maintenance concession for the highway between the cities of Talca and Chillán in Regions VII and VIII in 1996. The 193km stretch is part of the Pan-American Highway (Ruta 5).

Cintra Chile (43.4%), Empresa Constructora Delta (27.4%), Constructora Delta Ferrovial (13.1%), Inversiones Sodeia Cinco (15.9%) and Ferrovial Agroman Empresa Constructora (0.14%) make up Talca Chillán Sociedad Concesionaria.
