Bolivia's public works, services and housing ministry has launched a consultancy tender for the technical supervision of the US$243mn Montero-Bulo Bulo railway project.
Responsibilities of the technical supervisor include creating the final engineering design of the project, ensuring that the design meets international standards and is consistent across all three stretches of the project, creating a construction schedule and overseeing the works and maintaining the railway for three years upon completion.
The estimated budget is 87mn bolivianos (US$13mn) and written consultations are due August 5, with a clarification meeting to be held three days later. Bids are due August 26 and the award date is set for September 9.
The project aims to provide the necessary transportation for state hydrocarbons company YPFB's ammonia and urea plants in Bulo Bulo, with the works divided into three parts. The first is a 93km stretch connecting Montero with Santa Rosa and Rio Yapacani, followed by a second stretch connecting Rio Yapacani with Bulo Bulo, while the last phase is for the construction of three bridges.
