Canadian engineering and construction firm SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) has acquired Colombian engineering firm Itansuca in an effort to boost its presence in key Latin American markets, according to a company release.
"Our acquisition of Itansuca marks an important milestone in our ongoing strategy to develop, invest in, and establish a long-term local presence in key Latin American markets where we see enormous potential to grow our multi-product portfolio and maximize our synergies in the fields of energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, and mining and metallurgy," said company VP Riadh Ben Aïssa.
Itansuca provides energy consulting, project management, electromechanical installation, design and supervision services.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, SNC-Lavalin has mining, power, waterworks and transport infrastructure projects, with offices in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
