Venezuelan state aluminum reducer Alcasa expects to improve production levels in H2, a Sintralcasa union official told BNamericas.
"The goal is to produce about 7,000t/m of rolled products and 3,000t/m of cylinders, incorporating 30 cells for the remainder of the year to guarantee this increase in productivity," the union official said.
In July, Alcasa produced 250t/d, less than 50% of the 580t/d the company used to put out.
However, the amount of electricity the company will have still needs to be determined in order to make a better projection, the official said.
In December, Alcasa started the process of permanently shutting down and dismantling reduction lines 1 and 2, which left it with only 231 cells in operation, out of 684 in total.
The announcement that production would return to normal was made in the midst of a strike at aluminum sector companies supporting the demand of subcontracted workers at state reducer Venalum to be added to the payroll.
The Alcasa and Venalum plants are located in the Matanzas industrial zone in Puerto Ordaz city in eastern Venezuela's Guayana region. Both companies are controlled by state heavy industry holding CVG.
