Bolivia, Denmark to Sign Mining-Environ. Accord

The governments of Bolivia and Denmark will sign in the next few days an agreement to reduce the environmental and social-economic effects on Potosi department residents living near mining and metal extraction and refining activities, El Diario (Bolivia) reported.

Denmark is contributing US$1.54mn and Bolivia US$116,000 to the program aimed to raise the quality of life for present and future generations in the area.

Bolivia's state mining company Comibol will also support the agreement, including work to prevent the collapse of tailings dumps such as at Tatasi and Telamayu.
