Latin America increased its aluminum production 8.4% to 207,000t in February compared to 191,000t year-on-year, according to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).
However output in the region dropped from 223,000t in January.
During the second month of 2008 the global aluminum industry churned out 2.02Mt versus 1.87Mt in February last year, according to the latest figures published by the IAI.
Daily global output reached 69,800t compared to 66,800t year-over-year.
All of the world's regions increased aluminum output in February with the exception of Africa, where production slipped to 134,000t from 143,000t year-over-year. North America churned out the most aluminum in February with 467,000t compared to 420,000t year-on-year.
IAI's Latin America figures include Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina.
