Mining contracts currently represent about 25% of the company's revenues in Brazil.
To achieve the goal, the company aims to strengthen its relationship with major miners and recently opened a subsidiary in Minas Gerais state capital Belo Horizonte.
"Our ambition is to be an opinion leader. [We want to] show our clients the best way to implement their projects on time and within approved investments," Ronchel said.
"We have hired engineers and experts in mineral processing to compose our staff," the executive added.
The subsidiary in Belo Horizonte will mainly serve the domestic iron ore market but the company is also interested in providing services to gold, bauxite, tin, copper, coal and fertilizer operations.
Companies such as US-based aluminum producer Alcoa (NYSE: AA), BHP Billiton's (NYSE: BHP) Alumar aluminum operation and steelmaker CSN (NYSE: SID) already form part of Pöyry's client portfolio in Brazil.
The full interview with João Ronchel will be published in this week's Mining Perspectives, for subscribers only.
