Keppel Fels delivers deepwater rig to Queiroz Galvão

Singapore-based shipyard Keppel Fels has delivered the Gold Star deepwater semisubmersible rig to Brazilian construction firm and oil operator Queiroz Galvão six days ahead of scheduled.

The rig is designed for ultra-deepwater activities up to a depth of 2,700m, Keppel Fels said in a statement.

The rig has been hired from Queiroz Galvão by Brazilian federal energy company Petrobras (NYSE: PBR).

The rig is estimated to have cost US$550mn, according to local press reports.
