Petroperú to launch US$1bn Talara revamp tender Monday

Peru's state oil company Petroperú on Monday will launch an international call for bids for the US$1bn Talara refinery modernization project, according to company president César Gutiérrez.

The news follows the approval by the company board of the project's economic feasibility carried out by US firm Arthur D Little.

Company selection is expected in July, Gutiérrez said in a statement.

Firms that have expressed interest include Marubeni and Mitsui from Japan and Spanish firms Técnicas Reunidas, Dragados and Abengoa.

The revamp aims to increase refinery capacity to 90,000b/d from 62,000b/d, optimize fuel quality at existing units and construct new ones.
