Techint Begins TGM Pipeline Works

Construction company Techint Argentina has started construction of the Transportadora de Gas del Mercosur, S.A. (TGM) natural gas pipeline, which will transport natural gas from Parana in Entre Rios, Argentina to Uruguaiana in Brazil. TGM is owned by CMS, TransCanada, CGC, Techint and Malaysia's Petronas. Operations at the US$150mn, 437km project should begin June 2000 to transport some 100 million cubic feet per day from Argentina's Neuquen Basin through the 3,100-mile TGN pipeline in Argentina to Uruguaiana in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. TGM's capacity will be expandable to 425 million cubic feet per day
