Mexico's state oil company Pemex has launched an international tender for the second stage expansion works of the Morelos petrochemical complex's ethylene plant in Veracruz state, according to federal procurement website Compranet.

The works entail the installation of two pyrolysis heaters in the plant to increase capacity to 875,000t/y ethylene using gasoline as feedstock, or 900,000t/y using ethane, up from its current 600,000t capacity.
Pemex has scheduled a site visit for March 26 and a project meeting for March 28.
Bidding rules are available through April 24 with bids due April 30.
Works are scheduled to begin June 18 and run 1,016 days.
Pemex expects investment in the project to reach 148mn pesos (US$13.9mn) in 2008.
