Brazilian fertilizer deliveries totaled 29.5Mt last year, up 4.3% from 28.3Mt in 2011, according to statistics from national fertilizer distributors association Anda.
In December alone, deliveries increased 1.0% to 1.83Mt from 1.82Mt in the prior-year period.
Domestic production of fertilizer intermediaries totaled 9.72Mt in 2012, down 1.4% from 9.86Mt a year earlier. In December, production decreased 6.3% year-on-year to 769,953t.
Meanwhile, imports of fertilizer intermediaries last year fell 1.7% to 19.5Mt from 19.9Mt in 2011. In December imports increased 24.9% to 1.51Mt from 1.21Mt.
Exports of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers totaled 517,306t in 2012, down 23.4% on the prior year, while in December exports slipped 2.4% to 50,182t.
