New CND president to give priority to railroads

Economist Luis Alberto Porto has taken over as the new president of Uruguay's state-owned national development corporation (CND), the entity said in a release.

Upon taking office, Porto said his priority will be infrastructure development, with an emphasis on railroads. The economist also said he would stress austerity and efficiency.

Porto studied economy at the Uruguayan Universidad de la República and has a masters in economy from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
