Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversión has launched a consultancy tender for the private co-financed initiative to build a monorail urban transport system in Arequipa's metropolitan area.
The consultancy is split into three phases: pre-investment analysis, defining the execution model and promoting the project. The aim of the consultancy firm or consortium would be to review and evaluate the preinvestment study, including reviewing the data and sources of information used in the study, evaluating its feasibility and suggesting ways to improve upon the project design. In addition the firm would assist in defining the economic model for carrying out the project and assist ProInversión in promoting the project.
The consultancy has a referential budget of US$1.65mn, and the awardee will have 220 days to carry out all three phases.
The monorail project was presented to ProInversión as a solution to Arequipa's transportation problems and consists of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 14km system to be implemented above the city's existing roads.
According to the initial project proposal, the monorail project has a referential budget of US$615mn.
Firms interested in carrying out the consultancy have until March 3 to present bids. ProInversión aims to award the consultancy March 7.
