The Chilean Government's contract and public purchase portal Chilecompra (www.chilecompra.cl) has generated business totaling US$1.05mn since its launch on December 15 last year, El Diario (Chile) reported.
Chilecompra links 100 government entities with 3,000 suppliers. All told, the portal expects 120 state entities to be closed for 1H01, said Cesar Cantuarias, professional services manager of Chilean systems integrator Sonda, which operates the system.
Of the 2,604 purchase requests published in its first three months in operation, the Interior Ministry leads the pack with 445 transactions.
The portal is managed by Chile's procurement department (DAE), part of the Economy Ministry, and is operated by Sonda with support from Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Compaq (NASDAQ: CPQ). The site received 14,000 hits in March, up 100% from February.
The DAE has signed cooperation agreements with three private Chilean supplies markets: Senegocia (www.senegocia.com), Chiledepot (www.chiledepot.com), El Panal (www.elpanal.com) and with El Voucher (www.elvoucher.com), which provides information concerning the payment status of a service account incorporated by El Voucher into the portal.
