Portugal Telecom's (NYSE: PT) Brazilian business unit PT Inovação has opened a software development and research center in Bahia state capital Salvador, newswire Agência Estado reported.
PT Inovação opened a unit in Tecnovia, Bahia's development hub, where research institutes and biotechnology companies will be installed in the next few years.
In the operation's first phase, PT Inovação expects to hire 50 skilled employees. The target for the next three years is to have at least 150 engineers working in the center.
The main goal of this technological park is to create systems and platforms in the areas of billing and real-time business for voice, data and multimedia, providing permanent support to all calls made and received by clients. The idea is to develop solutions which can be offered to the group's clients worldwide.
The company expects to create a converging real-time voice and data traffic charging system for postpaid and prepaid lines.
