Brazil's largest PC maker Positivo Informática (Bovespa: POSI3) captured 16.9% of the country's PC market during 3Q09, online news source Ultimo Segundo reported.
The figure represented an increase from the 13.5% share recorded in 3Q08 and 16.5% recorded in 2Q09.
Positivo's market share for desktop sales reached 15.8% in 3Q09, up from 12.9% in the year-ago period, while the company's laptop market share was 18.8%, in comparison to 14.9% in 3Q08.
Positivo saw third quarter revenues increase 26% to 643mn reais (currently US$371mn). Overall PC shipments were 528,519 units, up 20.9% year-over-year.
The company's CFO, Ariel Szwarc, said during a conference call that sector PC sales are lagging in spite of an overall market recovery.
